Compliance ensures that therapists meet the requirements set forth by licensing boards, federal and state laws (such as HIPAA in the United States), organizational policies, and ethical codes of conduct established by professional associations like the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Psychological Association (APA), or the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
